چکیده

The synthesis of a reactive system with respect to an ωregular specification requires the solution of a graph game. Such games have been extended in two natural ways. First, a game graph can be equipped with probabilistic choices between alternative transitions, thus allowing the modeling of uncertain behavior. These are called stochastic games. Second, a liveness specification can be strengthened to require satisfaction within an unknown but bounded amount of time. These are called finitary objectives. We study, for the first time, the combination of stochastic games and finitary objectives. We characterize the requirements on optimal strategies and provide algorithms for computing the maximal achievable probability of winning stochastic games with finitary parity or Streett objectives. Most notably, the set of states from which a player can win with probability 1 for a finitary parity objective can be computed in polynomial time, even though no polynomial-time algorithm is known in the nonfinitary case.

Finitary Winning in ω-Regular Games

Games on graphs with ω-regular objectives provide a model for the control and synthesis of reactive systems. Every ω-regular objective can be decomposed into a safety part and a liveness part. The liveness part ensures that something good happens “eventually.” Two main strengths of the classical, infinite-limit formulation of liveness are robustness (independence from the granularity of transit...

Infinite-state games with finitary conditions

We study two-player zero-sum games over infinite-state graphs with boundedness conditions. Our first contribution is about the strategy complexity, i.e the memory required for winning strategies: we prove that over general infinite-state graphs, memoryless strategies are sufficient for finitary Büchi games, and finite-memory suffices for finitary parity games. We then study pushdown boundedness...

Magnifying Lens Abstraction for Stochastic Games with Discounted and Long-run Average Objectives

Turn-based stochastic games and its important subclass Markov decision processes (MDPs) provide models for systems with both probabilistic and nondeterministic behaviors. We consider turnbased stochastic games with two classical quantitative objectives: discounted-sum and long-run average objectives. The game models and the quantitative objectives are widely used in probabilistic verification, ...

Reduction of stochastic parity to stochastic mean-payoff games

A stochastic graph game is played by two players on a game graph with probabilistic transitions. We consider stochastic graph games with ω-regular winning conditions specified as parity objectives, and mean-payoff (or limit-average) objectives. These games lie in NP ∩ coNP. We present a polynomial-time Turing reduction of stochastic parity games to stochastic mean-payoff games.

Window parity games: an alternative approach toward parity games with time bounds

Classical objectives in two-player zero-sum games played on graphs often deal with limit behaviors of infinite plays: e.g., mean-payoff and total-payoff in the quantitative setting, or parity in the qualitative one (a canonical way to encode ω-regular properties). Those objectives offer powerful abstraction mechanisms and often yield nice properties such as memoryless determinacy. However, thei...
